Accessories play a crucial role in taking a more standard, traditional coin and revamping it to be one-of-a-kind.

Yes, you can accessorize your challenge coins with our numerous options, we can also provide customers with the ultimate add-ons for customizing. Adding edge text, special edge cutting, photos and other coin accessories can be a fun way to customize your coin design.

Choosing different accessories to go with your coins is a fun and exciting process. Let’s review some of our favorite options that can take pieces to the next level!

Table of Contents

Edge Text

Firstly, adding text along the edge of a coin is a unique way to add a personalized touch. There are two ways that we can add edge text to a coin. There are so many ways you can use this personalization to make you design truly unique.

Laser Engraved Edge Text: We use laser engraved edge text on coins that require different inscriptions. For example, we use this method to number our limited-edition coins and for coins that have personalized names.

Stamped Edge Text: We use stamped edge text for pieces that will have the same text engraved on every piece in the order. This process produces a deeper relief. An extra die mold is required for this process, making it a more suitable option for customers who plan on reordering.

Edge Cutting

Another way is edge cutting. Selecting edge cutting will add a beautifully cut pattern around the edge of one or both sides of your piece. The most common edge on challenge coins is the standard flat cut edge. This classic look is great but if you are looking to spice up the design of your coin, we have several options for you to choose from.  Different edge cutting options that can accentuate your design are: flat cut, flat wave, Spur cut, Oblique Line and Crosscut design edge. We also have options to encompass your design with a rope edge, which is incorporated into the die mold. The rope edge is a great option for military designs.

The edge cut designs can make a big difference in the look and feel of your coin. These edges give a high-quality finished look that will make the perfect accessory to stand out among any coin collection.

Epoxy Coating

In addition to adding protection, a clear epoxy coating can also give the coin a silky-smooth look and feel. With the epoxy coating you can get the look and feel of a hard enamel finish without the extra cost. With us, customers can choose to have one or both sides epoxied. This coating can give an added protective layer to the finish of your prized coin. The special epoxy coating will not yellow as the old coated tends to do over time. A new non-yellowing compound will be used on all our items.

Keychain Attachment

Adding a keychain attachment to the coin is great for everyday carrying and makes an amazing gift. A loop at the top of your coin design can be used to add the keychain attachment. We can add a link attachment or attach a split ring loop directly to the coin. This accessory will allow you to take your coin design everywhere you go. You can even combine the keychain attachment with the epoxy coating for the best of both worlds.

Bottle Opener

With a wave of our magic wand, we can turn your customized coin into a unique bottle opener. Turning coins into functional tools is a great way to accessorize your design. Your club, organization or favorite team design can be used with this option. The bottle opener option can be a memorable way to celebrate any occasion or event. You can crack open a bottle and let good times roll with this accessory.

Cutouts

Sometimes less is more, which is why we offer options for cutouts to create a number of simple shapes. This option will use our diecast method which allows for custom cutouts or deep inner cuts. The cutout option can also give you flexibility for custom shapes of any style. Say goodbye to the standard round coin, as this accessory will surely make your coin stand out amongst your coin collection. We can even take it a step further and create a spinner coin with a movable center.

Photo Dome

Sure, there is the 3D option for coins with images of faces or objects but adding a photo dome or off set print to your coin will give you the option to add a real photo of that special person or object you want to pay special tribute to. Getting the look and details of a human face can be very difficult with the standard 2D or even 3D.

With the photo dome/offset printing option you can use an existing photo to create the perfect and most accurate depiction. The image can be added to the center of the coin with the clear epoxy dome coating.

Two-Toned Plating

Finally, you have the option of two-toned plating. Is two better than one? With coins, the answer is yes. We can incorporate two different metal finishes on a coin. Any combination of gold, silver, copper and black nickel. The mold common and striking two-tone option is gold and silver which can be quite striking.

The two-tone finish can be used on the edge of the coin or on special text you want to highlight. You can even have a different metal finish on each side of your coin. Our options for different metal finishes give customers numerous design options and can also really highlight a coin.
